The Harding field is located in UKCS Block 9/23b in the Central North Sea, approximately 320km north east of Aberdeen. Water depth at the field is 110m.
The Harding platform is a large, heavy duty jack up rig fixed to a concrete gravity base structure containing oil storage tanks. The oil is exported from storage to shuttle tankers via the Submerged Loading System (SLS) located approximately 2km east of the platform.
The SLS includes a submerged turret mooring and loading interface buoy (STL) which is anchored to the seabed via eight mooring lines. Due to obsolescence the SLS was to be replaced with a new Offshore Loading System (OLS).
PDi provided TAQA with the full suite of support required for management and engineering of the project. This was based on a small, core project management team providing full time support in TAQA’s office with technical discipline support provided remotely, as required, from PDi’s Aberdeen base. This allowed TAQA to access the full range of consultancy and engineering services required for delivery of the project without committing to full time resources.
The ad hoc technical expertise was required to support the procurement elements of the project and review engineering deliverables produced by TAQA’s subcontractors and ensure compliance with industry codes, TAQA standards and project specifications. This support encompassed the following areas and disciplines:
During the offshore phase of the project PDi also provided eight engineering representatives to provide 24hr coverage across four vessels working simultaneously in the field.
